One of the great things about an event like the Capitol Hill Block Party is the opportunity to discover new music. While the three-day festival certainly highlighted super-popular acts like MGMT, The Dead Weather and Yeasayer, there were a handful of lesser known artists who blew away unsuspecting audiences Monster Beats iBeats, like Conor O’Brien of Villagers (featured here) and Chris Pureka. Chris is a singer and songwriter from Northampton, Massachusetts, and despite her resume of awards and laudations Replica Conduct Sunglasses, we weren’t entirely aware of her here in Seattle. Fortunately, the good folks booking the CHBP have a good ear and put her on the bill. Fans of folky songwriters — everyone from Patty Griffin and Sarah McLachlan to Ani DiFranco and Ray LaMontagne to Gillian Welch and Mary Gauthier — will enjoy this intimate acoustic set recorded exclusively for KEXP at the Caffe Vita Bean Room:
