It seems like we were just talking about Gerald Genta, doesn't it? That's because we were, just a two weeks ago. His newest project with Swedish startup Arlanch was previewed.
But that was Genta of the year 2011. The decade that most associate with Genta is the 1970s. We're talking three icons in ten years; the Royal Oak coach factory store, the Nautilus cheap coach bags coach factory store, and the Ingenieur SL. But that's not all Genta designed in the 1970s. He also created a limited number of pieces for Van Cleef & Arpels, and that's exactly what we've found today.
The caseback is numbered and marked "Gerald Genta", just in case you had any doubts about who hcould produce a timepiece such as this. Wood holds a particularly important role in the history of Van Cleef, as they originally produced wooden timepieces in the first half of the 20th century that were wildly popular with the European aristocracy.
